Atlas Outfitting October Updates!

Happy Fall, everyone!

As the rivers are cooling down and the colors are changing, it’s prime time to hook up to a big, colorful brown or rainbow that’s been hiding out all season! If you’ve been waiting for that trophy fish moment, now is your time to shine.

October Fishing Report:

The shoulder season is officially here and in full swing! All Hoot Owl restrictions have been lifted as water temperatures cool back down. Please note, however, that the Big Hole and Beaverhead Rivers closed on October 1st.

The cold weather also means the weeds in the river are dying off, making for easier drifts and better fishing conditions. For those heading out, be sure to dress in layers and keep warm!

Keep an eye out for brown trout redds and be sure to watch your step to avoid disturbing spawning areas.

As fall settles in, we recommend focusing on those slower water areas and switching to hot autumn flies, like oranges and pinks. Beatis and midges will be making their appearance soon. For now, we’ve had success with olive and orange streamers. Worm flies are also a solid bet, especially on a rainy day, as trout are stocking up on protein before settling into winter mode.

Doubles in October!
