May Fishing Report with Atlas Outfitting!

Dan the Man with a Big Hole River Freestone Brown!

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and an AO Fishing Trip Gift Card is the perfect gift! Instead of another grill accessory or goofy T-shirt, spend the day on the water with your ol’ man soaking up the sun and chasing big Trout (AKA having the time of your life)! :)

We’ve also got new swag in the AO Shop! Check out our hats featuring the updated AO logo here:

Fishing report:

Spring fishing is in full swing, and with the low water conditions, we’re taking full advantage of the ideal opportunities. At the Land of the Giants, earlier this month, we were fishing Baetis Mayflies in conjunction with long nosed sucker bead patterns. Currently, the worm and leech bite after a fresh rain has been good. Otherwise, small PMD and Caddis patterns have been the name of the game.

On the Big Hole, the worms, rubber legs, and streamers have been working in the morning and Mother’s Day caddis are moving fish in the afternoon. We recommend fishing higher in the system where the action has been most consistent.

Down on the Lower Big Hole, flows are running high and dirty, making fishing conditions more challenging and less predictable.

If you’re looking for a change of pace, now is a great time to explore smaller creeks and streams! These waters opened the third Saturday in May and are a great option for a unique fishing experience. Our mini raft setup is perfect for solo anglers who are interested in fishing tighter water spots that larger rafts can’t reach. This small raft allows us to cover more untouched, low-pressure stretches of water.

June Availability:

June is nearly full, with only a few dates remaining! We’ve been holding these spots for last-minute bookings, so now is the time to lock something in.

  • Float Trips: June 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 19

  • Jet Boat Trips: June 8 and 22

  • Combo Days (Float + Jet): June 7 (Float) / June 8 (Jet)

Make sure to grip and grin! =D

Recommended Spring Gear Packing List:

  • Your fishing license and waivers!  — Reminder to please complete our AO waiver and purchase your fishing license ahead of time. It’s helpful to have a download or screenshot of your fishing license on your phone because most fishing spots don’t have cell service.
