July Is Reel Fun With Atlas Outfitting! :)

Brad and Dwight put the DOUBLE in double-trouble :)

What’s happening on the water this month?

July is Our Biggest Month at Altas Outfitting!
We’re incredibly grateful for all your support and we’re excited to fish with so many of you this summer. If you’re still looking to get outside and enjoy some fresh air, warm weather, and great fishing—there’s still time to book a summer trip!

What are we Fishing?
Right now, we’re seeing good action on PMDs, caddis flies, and the occasional crayfish pattern. As we move into late July, ants, tricos and hoppers will become more prominent.

River Conditions & Hoot Owl Restrictions:
All rivers are currently open for fishing and floating, but please be mindful of water temperatures. Some rivers are already under hoot owl restrictions, and more are expected to follow. Hoot owl means fishing is closed from 2 p.m. to midnight to protect trout during peak heat. To stay compliant and protect fish, plan to fish early in the day when water temps are cooler, and always check local regulations before you go.

Hot Weather Fish Handling Tips:
As water temperatures rise, it’s more important than ever to handle fish carefully:

  • Keep trout in the water as much as possible!

  • Use proper rod weights and single barbless hooks

  • Avoid wading on shallow gravel bars (especially in spring/fall)

  • Don’t fish over 68°F!

  • Wet your hands before handling fish

Fishing Packing List (a.k.a Your Summer Packing List)!

  • Your fishing license and waivers! — Reminder to please complete our AO waiver and purchase your fishing license ahead of time. It’s helpful to have a download or screenshot of your fishing license on your phone because most fishing spots don’t have cell service. Better yet, email these forms to info@atlasoutfitting.com ahead of time to help us stay efficient and get you on the water faster!

  • Polarized sunglasses

  • Hat

  • Camera

  • Water bottle

  • Wet wading shoes

  • Rain gear — pants and jacket

  • Lightweight pants

  • Long sleeve sun shirt (or a NEW AO Sun Hoodie 😉)

  • If you’d like to bring your own fishing gear, check this out (otherwise, we will provide what you need)!

As water levels drop this month, we’ll be venturing a bit farther out to avoid the crowds and the HEAT! A rental car is a good idea this summer, as the best fishing spots often require a bit more driving. Please be prepared to meet your guide at the river.

Check out our NEW Atlas Outfitting sun hoodies!

Fisherwomen power on board!

Book a January fishing/hunting trip with us in Molokai!

Give us a call sooner rather than later so we can secure your spot!
